About Dr. Bell
Dr. Rob Bell is an assistant professor at Ball State University, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in sport psychology, psychology of injury, and sport sociology. He is a certified sport psychology consultant of The Association of Applied Sport Psychology; sought after to work with teams, coaches, organizations, and individual athletes.
Dr. Bell is the sport psychology consultant for Ball State University, and has credentials on the PGA tour. He assists numerous athletes at the professional, collegiate, and amateur levels and serves as a caddy on professional golf tours. His first book was published in 2010, Mental Toughness Training for Golf. Dr. Rob Bell is committed to helping athletes, coaches, and parents develop the mental toughness necessary to achieve their best.
Dr. Bell’s research include the “Yips” in golf, applied golf and baseball research in mental training, athletic identity, and streaks. He has been published in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Journal of Athletic Insight, Journal of Sport Behavior, and the Encyclopedia of Sports. He also writes on the mental game and has been noted in Runner’s World, NY Times, Stack magazine, and numerous additional websites. He presents for numerous teams, schools, and organizations.
Dr. Rob Bell has competitively competed in Baseball. He has completed two marathons in a personal best of 3:23 and numerous other road races. He has participated in triathlons and Master’s Swimming Events. He loves golf, swimming,skiing, reading, and chess.
Rob Bell earned his B.A. in Psychology from Shepherd University. During his tenure at Shepherd, he experienced dramatic downfalls and zeniths. Fortunately, he was guided under Dr. Joseph Merz and discovered his passion of Sport Psychology. Rob earned his M.Ed in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sport Psychology from Temple Universityunder Dr. Michael Sachs. His PhD was earned in Sport Psychology under Leslee Fisher and Craig Wrisberg at The University of Tennessee.
